Anniversary Road Trip - Part 1
For our 2 year anniversary we took an amazing road trip to the Northwest to see Portland, friends, the Oregon coast, and Sasquatch (the music festival). We finally got around to editing some pics and here is the first batch.

Nipomo, CA
We just got some film processed and found these beauties from Brad and Jenna’s wedding. They got married in a barn on the most beautiful property and even though it poured during the ceremony, the wedding was stunning and the sun even came out after the “I DO’s.”

1 Year Home. Remembering Uganda.
It’s crazy to think that one year ago today we had just returned from Uganda quite skinny, carrying amoebas and other sicknesses, and desperate to be home with family, friends and good food. As excited as we were to come home, we are extremely grateful for our time in Uganda and we hold close the memories and friendships made there. We grew into our marriage and learned a lot of things that...

Mini Roadtrip
A few weekends ago, joined by the company of friends, we headed down South to enjoy the much talked about Avocado Festival in Fallbrook, CA. But after arriving and seeing at most 5 avocado stands, we realized it was nothing more than a little street fair and we were slightly annoyed (and so was this guy).
But this looked fun.
So after we walked up and down the entire venue, we decided we...

House Update
Little by little we’ve been making additions and changes to our house and it’s finally starting to feel like a home. We painted the kitchen wall a lovely seafoam color, hung frames above our couch, splurged on lamps, and added a little coffee/ tea cart that is constantly being restocked by free take-homes from Peet’s (hooray for barista perks). These bright sunflowers add a...

Our Great Outdoors
Apparently March flew by us without us even realizing. Many birthdays were celebrated (including Ally’s), David attended SXSW in Austin, Texas, road trips were taken, and we slowly adjusted to the ever changing springtime weather. I can’t believe that we’re coming up on the middle of April but we are back to documenting the little events and moments that make up our lives.
In...

Weekend in Big Bear
My generous Aunt and Uncle own an awesome cabin in Big Bear and we are so thankful when they let us stay in it. Two weekends ago, we went up with some friends and did nothing but eat, play games, read, relax, and watch the Superbowl. We did manage to get out of the house to walk around Big Bear Lake, but other than that we succeeded in being as lazy as possible. We are so grateful for our friends...

Scone morning
Baking scones reminds me of Uganda. Lazy Saturdays with no plans often drove me to baking and it was always warmly received by the 3 guys in our house. I love coming up with new flavor combos but I always had pretty limited options in Uganda. Now that I’m home I love having blueberries at my fingertips to bake with. This morning I made scones with Kristin and Dannae and we quickly devoured...

New Year Hike
My dream for New Years Day was to wake up to the sunrise in a completely new place as a fresh start to the new year, but because of David’s drum schedule it didn’t happen. Instead he surprised me by planning out an early morning drive to the Orange hills on the morning after. We got there with plenty of time to hike to the top of the hill before the sun came up and it was so cool to...

Thanksgiving. Part 2
Before chowing down on an amazing meal, our niece and nephew couldn’t help but jump around in this giant pile of leaves. But really, who can blame them. I’m so glad David captured these awesome moments of pure joy. I love that kids are never too busy to pass up the simple pleasures of life.

Thanksgiving. Part 1
This year we were extremely grateful to spend Thanksgiving with family. While it was definitely an adventure figuring out how to cook an amazing meal in Uganda last year, there’s just something about eating a traditional Thanksgiving meal and hanging out with relatives that really makes this holiday special. We spent the afternoon in Simi Valley at Aunt Kit’s house riding horses,...

Charleston, South Carolina.
Daniel Chesnut and I (David) are in South Carolina right now shooting video for a wedding. We got here with enough time to explore downtown Charleston so we took a mini photo adventure. At first we were frustrated that we ran out of sunlight but in the end it pushed us, to 1600 (iso.)

Anna Nelson at the Roxy
2 weeks ago Ally and I got to go see our friend Anna Nelson play at the Roxy. We had a blast hanging out with friends, listening to really good music, and Anna and her band sounded great. Only downside to the night is we got a parking ticket.
Here are some photos from that night.

We Moved!
Well, after a year and a half of being married, we finally have our own home! No roommates, no Uganda, just us. We can’t wait to decorate and make it feel homey, but for now we are just enjoying our space. Here are some pictures to give you an idea of how perfect our place is. It feels a little cabiny because of the wood and fireplace and slanted ceiling, definitely worth the wait.

A few weeks ago our friends Ryan and Becky got married. They are such a sweet couple and it was an honor to be able to help out with their special day. Ryan takes awesome pictures and another one of our friends Christian Kaysen shot the rest of the wedding day. You can see more pictures of the groomsmen and Ryan getting ready here.

Hiking to Hollywood
A few weeks ago I joined a mentorship/discipleship group at Rock Harbor called Circles as a way to get more involved and really sink into the idea of living and growing in community. I have already been so blessed by the group and I’m excited to be serving alongside them. Yesterday, a few of us from the group went on a hike to the Hollywood sign. We got up super early and finished the hike...
